Joinery

Between us, we have over 50 years of experience, ranging from intricate Victorian 'Tallboy' style wardrobes and fully fitted libraries with sliding ladders befitting stately homes to classic ledge and brace doors for Welsh farmhouses and exact window replicas for listed buildings.

Rob Fleck has been designing and producing joinery and furniture in this part of Wales since 1987. He has developed a clean classic style, allowing the wood to come to the floor.

In 2005 his son Danny began his apprenticeship with Rob, joined later by Sam. The three continue to work together, drawing on each others skills, experience and craftsman’s eye.

This epic project began with a wind-fallen Beech tree just a couple of miles from our yard, and ended with a complete kitchen, shelving, benches, full height cupboards and more. These photos show the journey from butt through milling, kiln drying, preparation, installation and completion.

This beautiful kitchen cupboard with swing out drawers and tray shelves was made by commission by Rob.

Incorporating Rob’s signature woven fronted design this large kitchen island was commissioned for a new build timber frame house. The island houses the range cooker with slate worktops either side, cupboard storage underneath and an indulgently generous breakfast bar/counter for social cooking.

Bathroom unit of ash and walnut

This tiny kitchen, built to fit into a hillside cabin, uses every available space for extra storage and neatly fitting appliances. The shimmering ash contrasts beautifully with the dark wenge, which was supplied from the vintage wood store of the clients father.

Our own timber

We have been milling our own timber for 30 years, and as a result have a huge store of exceptional timbers to draw on. This allows us to make beautiful and unusual choices when designing, selecting wood for its intrinsic qualities or pairing contrasting colours for aesthetic grace.

The trees we mill are usually local storm-blown casualties or trees that have been condemned to felling due to safety or land development. If you have a tree that you would like to sell or have milled up, we are interested to hear of anything that has a straight length of at least 2m and approx diameter of 1m or more.
